Level 1-8 Swim Lessons
Level 1-8 $27.50 per class Plans available from $110 A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.
Level 1: Orient participants to the aquatic environment and help them gain basic aquatic skills. Help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices around the water.
Skills learned: Bobbing in the water, blowing bubbles, proper safety in and out of the water/around the pool.
Level 2: Build on the basic aquatic skills and water safety skills and concepts learned in Level 1.
Skills learned: Combined arm and leg action on front/back, various floating techniques, increased distance swimming.
Level 3: Build on the skills learned in Levels 1 & 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency in a pool environment.
Skills learned: survival floating, treading water, elementary backstroke, streamline position.
Level 4: Teach participants the basics of freestyle, commonly referred to as front crawl. Introduce and practice life saving water skills such as breathing techniques and treading water.
Skills learned: Continue treading water, learning proper breathing during freestyle, ability to swim freestyle properly 5-10 yards.
Level 5: Help participants build on their skills learned in previous levels and introduce backstroke as a new stroke.
Skills learned: increased distance/proficiency of swimming for freestyle, introduction of backstroke.
Level 6: Help participants build on their skills learned in previous levels and introduce breaststroke as well as the kick aspect of the butterfly stroke.
Skills learned: Continued practice of freestyle and backstroke technique and increasing the swimming distance. Understanding and performing breaststroke in and out of the water. Begin to learn the kick portion of the butterfly stroke.
Level 7: Help participants build on their skills/strokes learned in previous levels and introduce the rest of the butterfly stroke.
Skills learned: Continued practice of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke technique while increasing the swimming distance. Learning the proper technique for the butterfly stroke.
Level 8: Help participants build on their skills/endurance of the 4 strokes learned in previous levels. Introduce the basics of diving and flip turns.
Skills learned: Continued practice of improving the technique and endurance of all 4 strokes. Starting to learn the basics of diving and doing somersaults in the water to eventually learn how to do a flip turn.
